A committee to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of former Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Malam Mohammed Danladi Ndayebo at the IBB Specialists Hospital, Minna has been constituted.
The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG) Ahmed Ibrahim Matane disclosed this while addressing Newsmen in his Office.
The SSG told Newsmen that the State Government received information about some level of alleged non-professionalism conduct in the management of the deceased by IBB Specialists Hospital.
According to the SSG, “it was alleged that late Ndayebo was brought to the Hospital with no single Doctor on call to attend to him as a victim of an accident”. He said Government is very concerned about public Hospitals that would respond to such emergencies with a level of levity and neglect.
He further explained that Government will not conclude whether the circumstance that led to the death of the former Commissioner was as a result of negligence or otherwise, adding that the committee is to see into what has happened, to see how a such situation can be dealt it with and to avoid such unfortunate act in the future.
The SSG said the committee was to find out the circumstances that led to the death of Ndayebo and established whether or not there was any act of negligence on the part of IBB Specialist hospital or its personnel.
Ahmed Matane revealed that the committee was to review the operations of IBB Specialist Hospital, identify any operational deficiencies and make appropriate recommendations to enable the State Government to take decisive actions.
Memberships of the committee include Dr. Chindo Bisallah, Dr. Joseph Kolo, and Dr. Umaru Tiffin and representative of the Nigerian Labour Congress, State Council.
Mohammed Danladi Ndayebo who was also the Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu died this week following injuries he sustained in a motor accident along Minna-Suleja road.
Similarly, the State Government had also set up a committee to investigate a petition against the Chairman of the Niger State Board of Internal Revenue, Mohammed Etsu on misappropriation of funds.
Addressing Newsmen, the Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane stated that the committee was to identify the basis for the petition against the Chairman and verify issues raised in the petition to establish whether or not there were any financial or administrative infractions within the Board leading to disaffection by the staff.
The SSG pointed out that the committee is to make appropriate recommendations to ensure sustainable functions of the Board and report back within two weeks on their findings.
The committee has the State Account General, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. Annas Salihu, Dr. Yahaya Zakari and a representative of the Nigerian Labour Congress.
