NUJ FCT Council Mourns FRCN Journalist Gwamkat Gwamzhi

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Headquarters, Gwamkat Gwamzhi, described her passing as a painful loss to the journalism profession and the nation.

In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the NUJ FCT Council said the late broadcaster was a dedicated media professional who contributed immensely to the growth of broadcasting and public information in Nigeria through years of committed service at FRCN.

The Council noted that Gwamzhi was widely respected for her professionalism, humility, and unwavering commitment to ethical journalism, adding that her death has created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.

According to the statement, the Council commiserates with the management and staff of FRCN Headquarters, the FRCN NUJ Chapel, members of her immediate family, friends, and professional colleagues over the unfortunate loss.

“The death of Gwamkat Gwamzhi is a painful loss to the journalism profession, the FRCN family, and the nation at large,” the statement said.

The NUJ FCT Council prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and urged God to grant her loved ones the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
