NYSC gets New Director-General, as Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim bows out

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Padah as the 19th Director-General of National Youth Service Corps NYSC.

 

Brig General M.K Padah succeeded Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim who today Wednesday 18th May,2022 exited the scheme as Eighteenth NYSC DG after the expiration of his tenure.

 

The hand over ceremony which was held today at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters,Abuja had the presence of top government functionaries and relevant stakeholders of the scheme.

 

Brigadier-General from Yobe State, took over from the 18th director-general, Shuaibu Ibrahim, at a handover ceremony in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.

 

Speaking on Wednesday during the ceremony, Brigadier General Fadah promised to maintain the legacies of his predecessors.

 

He said: “The outgoing NYSC DG has left a very big shoe for me to fill and I hope to work hard to fit into it. For all the ongoing projects, I will ensure that they get completed. All his legacies will be maintained.”

 

Fadah also enjoined the staff of the scheme to cooperate with him and not to indulge in immoral activities including gossip. He said with their cooperation, the scheme can be taken to greater heights.

 

He further reiterated that he would work hard to maintain the dream of the founding fathers of the scheme, which he said was targeted at uniting the country.

 

Earlier in his farewell speech,the outgone DG, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim urged the new Director-General as well as the staff of the scheme to ensure that they make the welfare and protection of the corps members top priority.

 

He also urged the staff to extend their support to the new DG just as he said they did for him. He added that the new DG and the staff should always call on him anytime they needed his support

 

Born in Sugum ,Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State.Local government of Yobe state,Brig Gen Fadah has gone on several postings, where he demonstrated uncommon leadership prowess in different capacities.

 

The newly appointed Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mohammed Fadah, immediately assumed office after the hand over ceremony.

 

The outgone NYSC DG, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, is a native of Nasarawa LGA in Nasarawa State, an Associate Professor of History and War Studies at the Nigerian Defence Academy.

 

He assumed office in May 2019 and prior to his appointment as the 18th DG of NYSC, he was the Registrar of the Nigerian Army University, Biu, Borno State.

 

He has a Bachelor’s degree in History (1989), M.A. in History (1992), also in UNIJOS and PhD in History (2007) at the University of Abuja.
