The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has condemned the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives, and has ordered a large-scale deployment of security assets to restore peace and apprehend those responsible.
In a statement issued on April 1, 2026, by the Force Public Relations Officer,DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the IGP expressed deep condolences to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, as well as to the families and residents affected by the tragic incident in the Angwan Rukuba community.
As part of immediate response measures, the police chief had earlier deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu Nadada, to the state. The DIG is tasked with assessing the situation on the ground, coordinating ongoing operations, and reinforcing the existing security framework.
The IGP further directed the deployment of additional tactical teams, including Police Mobile Force units and intelligence operatives, to work in synergy with other security agencies in addressing the security challenges and preventing further breakdown of law and order across the state.
According to the police boss, the intensified operations will remain in place until normalcy is fully restored. He also instructed all operational commanders to ensure increased visibility in policing and proactive engagement with communities identified as vulnerable.
The Inspector-General urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and vigilant, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with security agencies. He also warned against taking the law into their own hands and encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities promptly to support ongoing efforts to maintain peace.
