A House of Representatives aspirant for Ijebu Central Federal Constituency in Ogun State, Adetomiwa Adetilewa, has outlined an ambitious plan to reposition the constituency as a thriving economic hub driven by youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and digital skills acquisition.
Adetilewa, who is contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), disclosed this during an interview where he shared his vision for economic revitalisation and effective representation.
The aspirant, who hails from Ijebu Ode, highlighted his professional background spanning over seven years in the oil industry, including experience with multinational firms before transitioning into entrepreneurship. According to him, his exposure to global best practices and private sector dynamics has equipped him with the tools to drive innovation and development.
Speaking on his motivation for seeking a seat in the House of Representatives, Adetilewa said his decision was influenced by his early exposure to governance and his belief in restructuring Nigeria’s political system.
He stressed the need for constitutional reforms, describing the current framework as a major impediment to national progress. “Nigeria cannot achieve meaningful development under the existing structure. Real change must come from within the system,” he said.
Adetilewa identified youth unemployment as a critical challenge and proposed the establishment of a modern skill acquisition centre focused on digital and remote work opportunities. He noted that with the right infrastructure—reliable internet and stable power supply—young people in the constituency could tap into the global digital economy.
He also pledged to push for legislative reforms, including decentralisation of policing, separation of investigative and prosecutorial powers, and the amendment of the criminal justice system to ensure fairness and accountability.
On inclusion, the APC aspirant advocated for equal opportunities for women and stronger legal protections for persons with disabilities. He called for improved accessibility in public infrastructure and enforcement of anti-discrimination laws in employment.
Adetilewa further promised to create a job seekers’ database and serve as a bridge between constituents and federal opportunities, ensuring better access to employment and empowerment programmes.
Looking ahead, he expressed confidence that within four years, Ijebu Central could become a model constituency marked by economic growth, job creation, and improved quality of life.
“We will create an environment where businesses thrive and young people have opportunities. People across the country will look at Ijebu Central as a reference point for development,” he said.
Adetilewa’s campaign centred on what he describes as “purposeful leadership,” with a focus on practical solutions aimed at unlocking economic potential and delivering impactful representation.
