The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a significant breakthrough in its fight against violent crime with the arrest of two notorious suspects linked to a “one chance” armed robbery syndicate operating within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and surrounding areas.
The suspects, identified as David Francis (22) and Emmanuel Ibenni, popularly known as “Markfish” (36), were apprehended on March 8, 2026, at Sambec Hotel in Mararaba, Nasarawa State. The arrest was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) following actionable intelligence.
According to police findings, the suspects are members of a criminal network that disguises itself as commercial transport operators to lure unsuspecting passengers. Once victims are onboard, they are robbed of their belongings and, in many cases, subjected to assault.
Investigations further revealed that the syndicate has been linked to multiple cases involving abduction and the theft of large sums of money, mobile phones, and other valuables. Authorities disclosed that some victims suffered severe injuries, while others were reportedly killed after encounters with the group.
Several victims have since identified the suspects and provided useful information to support ongoing investigations. The police say efforts are underway to track down other members of the syndicate and bring them to justice.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Nigeria Police Force stated that it will continue to intensify operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and protecting lives and property across the country.
