The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across several states of the federation in the last 24 hours, leading to the rescue of kidnap victims, arrest of suspected kidnappers, cultists, armed robbers, and recovery of firearms and stolen vehicles.
According to a release by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, the operations were driven by intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical interventions by police operatives nationwide.
In Akwa Ibom State, police detectives successfully rescued a kidnap victim after tracking the abductors through intelligence-led communication monitoring. One suspect was arrested while attempting to collect ransom and reportedly confessed, implicating other members of the gang. The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Uyo has commenced further investigation.
In Bayelsa State, operatives arrested a suspected cult hitman linked to the murder of a police constable, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing gang members.
Similarly, in Edo State, police arrested a notorious cultist following credible intelligence and recovered a locally made pistol with two live cartridges. The suspect is assisting investigators as efforts continue to arrest his accomplices.
In Ekiti State, detectives arrested a suspect for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl. The victim was rescued and taken for medical examination and treatment, while the case is being handled by the SCID in Ado Ekiti.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command also recorded multiple successes, including the arrest of a suspected car thief caught attempting to steal a vehicle using a fabricated master key. In a separate operation, police tracked a stolen iPhone, leading to the arrest of an armed robbery suspect.
The Command also restored law and order after an attack on Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel, arresting one suspect, impounding two vehicles, and ensuring the safe rescue of all affected FRSC officers.
In Imo State, sustained intelligence operations led to the arrest of a notorious kidnap kingpin, who allegedly confessed to involvement in a cross-border kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate. Investigations are ongoing to recover operational weapons and apprehend other gang members.
Police in Nasarawa State rescued four kidnap victims following sustained pressure on the abductors. The victims were medically examined before being reunited with their families, while efforts continue to arrest the fleeing suspects.
In Oyo State, police arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects during intelligence-led operations. Two blood-stained pestles were recovered, while the suspects reportedly confessed to participating in more than 30 motorcycle robbery operations. Police said efforts were underway to recover stolen motorcycles and arrest those receiving the stolen property.
The Command also intercepted and arrested another suspect found in possession of a stolen tricycle, which was recovered.
In Osun State, police arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a serving police officer. In another operation, officers arrested a suspect over alleged threat-to-life offences and recovered a cut-to-size pistol during a search, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing accomplices.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime through intelligence-led policing and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance public safety across the country.
