The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across several states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including the rescue of 11 kidnapped victims, recovery of stolen vehicles, arrest of suspected criminals and recovery of firearms and other exhibits.

The latest operational update, covering incidents between August 10 and 14, 2026, was released on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

In Kaduna State, Police operatives rescued three female kidnapping victims during a search operation around a suspected criminal hideout in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area. The victims had reportedly spent about two weeks in captivity and were taken to a health facility for medical attention.

In Benue State, five kidnapped passengers, including a four-year-old child, were rescued along the Ankpechi–Omutela highway after Police tactical operatives, supported by other security personnel and local vigilantes, engaged the abductors in a gun duel. One of the rescued victims sustained a gunshot injury and was evacuated for treatment.

Also in Benue, Police recovered a newborn child allegedly stolen immediately after delivery and arrested 11 suspects in connection with the incident. The principal suspect and an accomplice were among those arrested, while investigations into the alleged roles of the suspects continue.

In Taraba State, two suspects were arrested in connection with a kidnapping and murder case in Lau Local Government Area. Police said interrogation revealed their alleged involvement in the abduction of two persons and the fatal shooting of two others at Jimlari Village.

In Kano State, Police operatives repelled an attack by armed hoodlums in Dutsen Bakoshi and Dan Shado villages in Shanono LGA. An injured victim was rescued and taken to General Hospital, Shanono, for treatment.

Similarly, in Adamawa State, Police arrested a prime suspect following a violent incident at a hotel in Girei LGA. The suspect allegedly confessed to involvement in the killing of a female victim, while the weapon reportedly used in the crime was recovered.

In the FCT, Police reinforcement dispersed a violent mob attack in Garki and rescued three Police personnel who were attacked during the incident. The officers were evacuated for medical attention. In a separate operation, a suspect was arrested and a Honda City vehicle reported stolen more than five years ago was recovered. Another suspect was also arrested for allegedly setting a Police operational vehicle ablaze.

In Oyo State, four suspects allegedly involved in motorcycle snatching were arrested following credible intelligence. Police said the suspects confessed to the offence, while a locally fabricated revolver pistol was recovered during a search.

The Police also recovered a stolen truck conveying goods worth approximately ₦90 million at Odogbolu Trailer Park in Ogun State. The driver reportedly fled and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.

In Anambra State, Police arrested a suspected member of a criminal group in Dunukofia. A search of the premises led to the recovery of a military-style uniform, expended ammunition shells and other suspected illicit substances.

In Jigawa State, a suspect was arrested following an attempted kidnapping case involving a telephone threat demanding ₦4 million for the victim’s safety. Police said phone-number analysis led to the identification and arrest of the suspect.

Meanwhile, Police operatives in the FCT also intervened in a communal dispute in Gwagwalada, arresting identified suspects and intensifying patrols and intelligence gathering to prevent reprisals.

In Gombe State, Police responded to a fire outbreak at Filiya Market and, working with community members, brought the fire under control. Three injured persons were evacuated to Cottage Hospital, Filiya, for treatment.

In Kogi State, Police recovered an abandoned vehicle allegedly used by victims of an abduction at Ugbakpedo. Five expended ammunition shells were also recovered, while bush-combing and surveillance operations have been intensified to rescue the abducted victims and arrest the perpetrators.

The Force said the various cases remain under investigation by the relevant State Criminal Investigation Departments and the CID, Abuja, as applicable.

The Police reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, combating violent crime and maintaining public safety across the country.
