The Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set an ambitious target of achieving one-hour clearance for Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) cargo, surpassing its current two-hour record.
This was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniya, during the International Customs Day celebration in Lagos. He stressed that compliance from importers and agents through accurate declarations, prompt duty payments, and readiness for cargo exit would be key to achieving this goal.
In a significant development, Comptroller Daniya announced that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has approved PTML Terminal for pharmaceutical imports. He attributed the milestone to the terminal’s robust security measures and transparent operations.
The CAC praised Grimaldi Shipping for its operational efficiency and lauded the commencement of shipping services from Lagos to Shanghai, describing it as a step forward for legitimate trade and economic growth.
Reflecting on this year’s International Customs Day theme, “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity,” Comptroller Daniya affirmed the PTML Command’s dedication to enhancing efficiency and modernizing customs operations under the leadership of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
He also reiterated the command’s commitment to improving its services in 2025, assuring stakeholders of enhanced trade facilitation, faster cargo clearance, and robust dispute resolution mechanisms.
“We shall continually ensure maximum revenue collection without compromising national security while facilitating legitimate trade,” he stated, urged all stakeholders to maintain their support for the NCS modernization drive.
The CAC further highlighted the command’s role in piloting the “B’Odogwu” program and pledged to build on past successes for greater efficiency in cargo handling. He reaffirmed his open-door policy for addressing stakeholder concerns and ensuring seamless operations at the PTML terminal.
