Reps Leadership to partner TAN in tackling Organ Transplant Prevailence

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has assured members of the Transplant Association of Nigeria (TAN) of the house readiness to collaborate with the association to set up facilities for treatment of cases of organ diseases in the country.
The Deputy Speaker made this promise while receiving members of the association in his office in Abuja on Friday.
He lamented the high cases of organ failure cases and the 1.2billion dollars spent to treat the disease through treatment abroad while praising members of the association for resisting the allure of plying their trade and chosing to serve their motherland.
Earlier the leader of the delegation Dr. Olalekan Olatise had called for financial assistance from the house for the forthcoming conference of the association in Abuja which is meant to serve as avenue to sensitize Nigerians on the activities of the association.
He said disease donor transplant remained the future, due to scarcity of donors and the association wants the national assembly to assist to make laws to back the procedure in Nigeria as well as to discourage medical tourism in the country.
