RETREAT: GOV SANI-BELLO CHARGES NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS, TOP GOVT OFFICIALS ON GOOD GOVERNANCE

In an attempt to reposition and re-energize governance in Niger State, Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello, on Thursday declared open a two-day capacity building for members of the newly constituted State Executive Council and top government functionaries.

The retreat with the theme “The Executive Orientation Programme: Governance Administrative Relationship and Strategic Communication is currently holding in Abuja

Governor Sani-Bello explained that the essence of the retreat was to put government officials in the right frame of good governance and enhanced productivity among them.

“You may wish to note that in governance, government largely relies on the Executive Council and it’s ability to deliver on policy formulations, implementation and monitoring.

“The commissioners and other members of the council need to be given requisite training and exposure for them to function optimally in executing council decisions in their various ministries.

“As commissioners, you have a very critical role to play in leading the civil servants in your ministry and other agencies towards achieving the set objectives,” he said.

He expressed optimism that the trainers would focus their discourse on strategic communication skills in government business, techniques of clear, concise and precision writing among others.

He called on the participants to use the opportunity to improve their communication skills with other ministries and agencies for the development of the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Ibrahim Isah Ladan said the retreat was designed to help lay solid foundation for the smooth, efficient a b day effective running of government following the reconstitution of the state executive council.

He maintained that the retreat will create positive impact in improving ability and effectively change the orientation in the discharge of responsibility as top government officials particularly in enhancing interpersonal relationship and improve governance processes.

Earlier, Alhaji Mohammed Maude Lapai, Chairman/Chief Consultant, Aminato Investment Limited, said that the objectives of the retreat was to equip all participants with skills for service delivery.
