The Taraba State Government has donated N50 million to support victims of the recent devastating floods in Mokwa, Niger State.
The donation was announced during a condolence visit on Tuesday, led by the Senator representing Taraba Central Senatorial District, Senator Haruna Manu, who headed a government delegation to Niger State.
Senator Manu, accompanied by Hon. Danladi Baido Tijos, was received by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago at the Government House in Minna.
Describing the disaster as a “monumental loss” and a “national tragedy,” Senator Manu said the government and people of Taraba share in the grief of those affected.
“The Taraba State Government stands in solidarity with Niger State in this moment of pain and loss. We hope this contribution will help provide relief and aid to those affected,” he said.
In his response, Governor Bago appreciated the visit and commended Taraba State for its empathy and support, described it as a demonstration of true national unity and brotherhood.
He emphasized the importance of inter-state cooperation during emergencies, noting that such gestures go a long way in reinforcing the bonds of unity among Nigerian states.
The visit highlighted a strong message of compassion, solidarity, and national cohesion in the face of natural disasters.
