The Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, has concluded plans to embark on a series of town hall meetings across the five local government areas of Ogbomoso zone to engage citizens at the grassroots level on his developmental vision.
The meetings, scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 12, 2025, are part of efforts to interact directly with the people on the proposed “Greater Ogbomoso” agenda a 25-year development master plan designed to transform the zone socially, economically, and infrastructurally.
According to a statement signed by Peter Olaleye, Special Assistant on Media and Community Relations to the Soun, the town hall series aimed to foster unity, solicit diverse opinions, and mobilize community-wide support for the ambitious transformation agenda.
While the monarch has already been engaging elites and stakeholders on various platforms, he is now extending the conversation to the general populace. “Kabiyesi believes that everyone has a role to play in actualizing the Ogbomoso dream. This engagement is designed to include all voices, encourage input, and strengthen the shared vision,” the statement read in part.
The first town hall meeting is slated for Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Lagbami Osekun Civic Centre, located within the Ogbomoso South Secretariat premises, and will begin at 10:00 a.m.
The next meeting will hold on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Anglican Grammar School Hall, Ogbomoso North, starting by 3:00 p.m. Dates and venues for the remaining local government areas will be communicated in due course.
All sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland, as well as non-indigenes residing in the zone, have been encouraged to attend and contribute meaningfully to the discussions. The monarch emphasized that building a greater Ogbomoso is a collective responsibility.
“If we don’t chart the path forward, it’s doubtful anyone else will do it for us,” the statement added.
