Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has hailed the recent judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria affirming David Mark as National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, describing the decision as a major boost for Nigeria’s democratic system.
Reacting to the ruling, the Abia South lawmaker said the verdict goes beyond resolving internal party disputes, stressing that it reinforced the supremacy of the rule of law and strengthens democratic institutions in the country. He noted that the judgment comes at a critical time when public confidence in political structures and judicial processes is under close scrutiny.
Abaribe described the outcome as “a victory for Nigeria and democracy,” commending the judiciary for what he called a courageous and principled stand in upholding justice. According to him, such rulings are vital in safeguarding the integrity of the nation’s multiparty system.
He further emphasized that stability within political parties remained essential for credible elections, particularly as Nigeria gradually builds momentum towards the 2027 general elections. The senator warned against complacency, urging members of the ADC and Nigerians at large to see the judgment as a renewed call to action in the pursuit of good governance and accountability.
Calling for unity within the party, Abaribe appealed to all factions of the ADC to rally behind David Mark’s leadership in the interest of progress. He maintained that only a cohesive party can effectively position itself as a viable alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The senator also encouraged citizens to remain actively engaged in the democratic process, stressing that sustained participation is necessary to protect and advance democratic gains.
