The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled preventive maintenance exercise on the Katampe/Apo 132kV Transmission Lines 1 and 2, expected to affect electricity supply to parts of Abuja this weekend.
The maintenance, which is part of TCN’s routine preventive measures aimed at ensuring the reliability and safety of the transmission network, will take place on Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day.
TCN said its line engineers will use the exercise to replace the Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on Towers T120, T131 and T132 along the transmission line route.
Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take bulk electricity for onward distribution to customers in Asokoro, Garki 2, Lugbe, the Airport, Barracks and surrounding communities during the maintenance period.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the planned interruption may cause.
