President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, for transforming the culture of project delivery in Abuja, saying his administration has ended the era of abandoned projects and delayed execution.
The President made the remarks on Wednesday during the commissioning of the completed Akinwumi Ajibola Street in Gaduwa District, Abuja.
Represented by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu commended Wike for ensuring that development reaches not only the city centre but also districts and satellite towns.
“Minister Wike, let me put it on record. You have changed the culture of delivery in the FCT. You ended the era of mobilisation without movement. You ended the era of abandoned inner roads while major highways took all the attention,” the President said.
He added that the FCT Minister had demonstrated effective leadership by taking development “street by street” to ensure no resident is left behind.
“You inspect, you correct, you finish. Minister, you have my confidence, you have my commendation and the FCT has your results. Well done to you and to your team,” Tinubu stated.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to timely funding of infrastructure projects, stressing that contractors are expected to deliver on schedule.
“Under this administration, there is no excuse of no money. We pay on time and we demand performance on time,” he said.
Tinubu also urged residents of Gaduwa to safeguard the newly commissioned road by avoiding the dumping of refuse in drainage channels and refraining from vandalising streetlights and other public infrastructure.
He assured residents that the Federal Government would continue to expand infrastructure across the FCT.
“We will not stop here. Across the FCT, from the Central Area to the Area Councils, our task is fixed: finish what matters, connect what was separated and ensure that public funds show up as public value. Every district deserves access. Every citizen deserves to feel government where they live. Together we can make it happen,” he said.
In his remarks, the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, said no district in Abuja could claim to have been left out of the ongoing infrastructure drive under the current administration.
According to him, residents can now see and experience the tangible impact of governance across the territory.
“I’m sure it has never been so in the history of the FCT where citizens and residents can now feel and touch the impact of governance. And we believe, God being on our side, the FCT will see more development under this administration,” Wike said.
The commissioning of Akinwumi Ajibola Street forms part of the FCT Administration’s ongoing infrastructure renewal programme aimed at improving road connectivity, expanding access to communities, and enhancing the quality of life for residents across the nation’s capital.
