MURIC Commends NSCIA for Appointing Abbas Jimoh as Spokesperson

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has praised the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) for appointing veteran journalist Abbas Jimoh as its new spokesperson, describing the decision as a commendable choice.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said the NSCIA had selected the right person for the role, noting that Jimoh possesses the experience, professionalism and media expertise required to effectively manage the council’s public communication.

Akintola described Jimoh as a seasoned journalist who understands the dynamics of the media profession, expressing confidence in his ability to navigate the challenges associated with the position.

According to him, the appointment reflects the NSCIA’s commitment to inclusivity, transparency and objectivity in its selection process.

He commended the leadership of the Islamic umbrella body for what he described as a merit-based choice, adding that the organisation had “picked the right person” for the job.

MURIC also congratulated Jimoh on his appointment and urged him to discharge his responsibilities with diligence, courage and the highest level of professionalism.

The NSCIA last week announced the appointment of Abbas Jimoh, a veteran journalist and former Daily Trust staff member, as its official spokesperson.
