President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, celebrated on June 3, 2025.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Ojulari as a seasoned energy expert whose career has been marked by transformational leadership and a deep commitment to Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
“President Tinubu joins family, friends, and associates in celebrating an accomplished energy professional whose distinguished career has been defined by transformative and visionary leadership in our country’s oil and gas industry,” the statement read.
Before his appointment as GCEO of NNPC Limited in April 2025, Ojulari served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Renaissance Africa Energy Company. He also held the position of Managing Director at Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) between 2015 and 2021.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ojulari’s capacity to steer NNPC Limited toward global competitiveness and transparency, noting recent gains in oil production. He commended the rise in daily oil output from 1.5 million to 1.7 million barrels within two months and expressed optimism about reaching the 1.9 million barrel target by year-end.
“You have your work clearly defined before you. As head of NNPC Limited, your mission is to win investor confidence and ensure that NNPC becomes a key driver of Nigeria’s economic growth,” the President stated in his birthday tribute.
He encouraged the NNPC boss to serve with integrity and dedication, assuring him that his leadership would play a vital role in the nation’s quest for energy security and economic revitalization.
“I pray God to grant you strength, wisdom, and success as you lead NNPC Limited to greater heights,” Tinubu added.
