The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has expressed confidence in the safe return of students and teachers abducted by terrorists in two communities in Oyo State, while commending President Bola Tinubu’s directive for the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards as part of efforts to strengthen security in the affected areas.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group praised the Federal Government’s swift response to the incident, including the recent visit of a high-powered delegation led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to the affected communities.
According to the group, the visit underscored the administration’s determination to secure the release of the kidnapped victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
TMV noted that following the attack, which sparked widespread outrage and protests across the country, President Tinubu approved a series of measures aimed at enhancing security and facilitating the rescue operation.
Among the measures, the group highlighted the immediate recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in collaboration with the Oyo State Government, consideration for the establishment of a military outpost in the area, and the deployment of a specialised security unit to track and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the abduction.
The group said the President’s actions demonstrated empathy for the victims and reflected his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.
“We believe that with the wide-ranging steps approved by President Tinubu, the President has shown empathy for the victims and demonstrated his administration’s commitment towards guaranteeing the safety of all citizens,” the statement said.
TMV further argued that while the current measures are temporary, they could pave the way for the eventual establishment of state police across the country, which it described as a necessary step toward addressing security challenges more effectively.
The group also commended the President’s stance that no child should become a victim of kidnapping or be denied access to education because of insecurity, describing it as a clear demonstration of concern for the welfare and future of Nigerian children.
It urged Nigerians to regard security as a collective responsibility and support the Federal Government’s efforts to combat kidnapping, terrorism and other forms of criminality across the country.
The statement expressed optimism that the ongoing rescue operations and enhanced security measures would lead to the safe return of the abducted students and teachers while strengthening security in vulnerable communities.
