The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, will headline the 2026 annual reunion lecture of the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA), scheduled to hold in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The three-day event, slated for May 8 to May 10, 2026, will take place at Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, and is expected to attract over 300 delegates, including participants from the diaspora.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prof. Sirajudeen Obayopo, and the Public Relations Officer, Ibraheem Fagbenro, Issa-Onilu will speak on the theme, “The Potentials Within Nigeria,” focusing on unlocking the country’s vast human and economic resources.
The organisers noted that the conference aims to convene distinguished alumni, professionals, policymakers, and thought leaders to examine Nigeria’s untapped opportunities and chart pathways for sustainable national development.
Chairing the event is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Matrix Energy Limited, Alhaji Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu, while the Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire, will serve as Special Guest. The Chairman of the UNIFEMGA Board of Trustees, Alhaji AbdulRafiu Ebiti, is billed as Chief Host.
Other prominent figures expected at the event include Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN); the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN); Prof. Musa Aibinu of Summit University, Offa; Prof. Akeem Lasisi of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun; and Prof. Abubakar Sanusi, Chief Imam of Obafemi Awolowo University, among others.
Activities lined up for the reunion include a Jumu’ah service, courtesy visits to the university management and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, as well as a networking dinner featuring the UNIFEMGA Investors Forum 3.0.
The investors’ forum, modelled after the popular television show “Dragons’ Den,” will provide a platform for entrepreneurs to pitch business ideas to potential investors, alongside a panel discussion on building value-driven enterprises in Nigeria.
Other highlights include a welcome reception, student picnic, scholarship presentations, annual general meeting, empowerment programmes, medical check-ups, fitness sessions, and novelty matches among branches.
Speaking ahead of the event, UNIFEMGA National President, Alhaji Mohammed Buari, described the conference as a call to action for Nigerians to harness the country’s abundant resources and talents for national development.
He emphasised that the 2026 edition will focus on youth empowerment, innovation, and nation-building, reinforcing the association’s commitment to fostering intellectual engagement, networking, and collective progress.
