Party leaders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Yagba Federal Constituency have thrown their weight behind Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide’s emergence as the party’s candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election, insisting that the outcome of the primary reflects the genuine choice of members.
The leaders, under the platform of the Leke Abejide Support Group (LASG), dismissed criticisms of Abejide’s emergence as politically motivated, stressing that he earned the ticket through a transparent democratic process and not by imposition.
They maintained that Abejide’s victory across the constituency’s 34 wards represents the collective decision of APC members, urging all party faithful to respect the outcome of the primary election.
The group also rejected claims surrounding zoning and rotation, arguing that democratic rights and the constitutional freedom of qualified citizens to contest elections cannot be overridden by political arrangements.
According to the leaders, Abejide’s record of service, including scholarship programmes, empowerment initiatives, infrastructure projects and community development interventions, has strengthened his acceptance among the people.
They called on critics to embrace the spirit of democracy, declared that “the party members have spoken, the people have spoken, and democracy must be respected.”
