Barely 100 days into his administration, Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has made significant strides in road construction across the three senatorial districts, with about 14 key road projects reaching advanced stages of completion.
On Tuesday, Governor Okpebholo personally inspected several ongoing road projects in Edo South, including those in Temboga, Uteh, Ekiuwa, Orior-Ozolua, and Iguovbiahianmwen communities. Residents of these areas expressed appreciation, commending him for fulfilling his campaign promises to improve road infrastructure and enhance mobility.
During his visit, the Governor and his team assessed drainage projects in Temboga, Ekiuwa, and Uteh Road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, as well as Orior-Ozolua and Iguovbiahianmwen in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area. The projects are aimed at tackling erosion and improving road conditions that had deteriorated over the years.
Governor Okpebholo also inspected five roads in Temboga connecting Lucky Way, covering about 4.5 km, including Boundary Road, Igbinidu Street, and Ehrunmwunse Street. Additionally, he evaluated a major 1.4 km drainage project at Ewah Road, which starts from Omusi Primary School and channels water to the Ikpoba River to address persistent flooding.
In Benin City, the Governor visited the failed section of Ogheghe/Obagie Nevbosa Road, off the Sapele Road Bypass, and ongoing roadworks at Upper Ekenwa Road, where he emphasized the importance of quality construction. His team also inspected the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Road project in Ugbiyoko, a 1.1 km stretch that had been abandoned for years.
Residents, who had endured years of neglect, hailed the Governor’s intervention, stated that his efforts were already making a positive impact on their communities. Many described the projects as crucial to the economic and social development of the state.
At the Obadan Road junction along the Benin-Auchi Highway, Governor Okpebholo inspected the newly rehabilitated bad portion, fulfilling yet another of his promises.
Observers noted that within his first 100 days, Governor Okpebholo has demonstrated a strong commitment to infrastructure development, setting the stage for further progress in Edo State.
