The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),Mr Ola Olukoyede has said that some young cryptocurrency traders in Nigeria are unaware that terrorists are using them to trade and fund terrorism in the country.   The anti-graft chief revealed that some of the people who received money to trade in cryptocurrencies did not know that their financiers were sponsors of terrorism.   Olukoyede also noted that some of the 1,146 bank accounts recently frozen by the commission were conduits for terrorism funding.   He spoke during an event…

NCC suspends issuance of licence to virtual operators,others

The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has announced a temporary suspension of new licence issuance to operators in three categories. The categories are Mobile Virtual Network Operator Licence, Interconnect Exchange Licence and Value Added Service Aggregator Licence.   A virtual operator is a company that does not own a mobile spectrum licence but sells mobile services under its brand name using the network of a licensed mobile operator.
