President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals into the boards and management of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, named Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments were announced on Monday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said all the appointments take immediate effect.
Fayose will chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors complete the board.
President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission. Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna), Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) were appointed as commissioners and members.
In another appointment, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, previously serving as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), was redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
The President also approved the appointment of Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who passed away in January.
President Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
The President further appointed Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, succeeding Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Tinubu appointed economist, legal scholar and academic, Gisaor Vincent Iorja, who currently serve as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
