Banking Glitch Delays May Pension Payments – Niger Pension Board

The Niger State Pension Board has attributed the delay in the payment of May 2026 monthly pensions to temporary banking transaction processing challenges.

In a statement signed by the Management of the Niger State Pension Board on May 27, 2026, the Board explained that all necessary payment arrangements had been concluded and payment schedules released within the stipulated timeframe before the technical issue occurred.

The Board disclosed that it is actively engaging the relevant financial service providers to ensure that the challenge is resolved as quickly as possible and that all affected pensioners receive their payments without further delay.

According to the statement, the Board recognizes the importance of timely pension payments to the wellbeing of retirees and sincerely regrets the inconvenience and anxiety the delay may have caused pensioners across the state.

The Board further appreciated the patience, understanding and continued cooperation of pensioners, while reassuring them of its unwavering commitment to the prompt payment of their entitlements.

It urged pensioners to remain calm as efforts are being intensified to address the situation and complete the payment process.
