President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated Nigeria’s football stars, Ademola Lookman and Chiamaka Nnadozie, as well as the Super Falcons, for their outstanding achievements at the CAF Awards.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio hailed Lookman, the Atalanta forward and Super Eagles’ goal poacher, for clinching the prestigious CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award.
The Senate President described Lookman’s victory as a recognition of his dedication and exceptional talent.
“I wish to congratulate one of our finest footballers and an international superstar, Ademola Lookman, on his well-deserved win as the CAF Men’s Player of the Year. This award is a testament to Lookman’s hard work, dedication, and exceptional skills on the football pitch,” Akpabio said.
Akpabio also celebrated Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, for emerging as the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive year, applauding her performance as a source of inspiration for aspiring female athletes.
“Her outstanding performance is an inspiration to young Nigerian girls who aspire to excel in sports,” he said.
The Senate President further commended the Super Falcons for winning the Women’s National Team of the Year Award, attributed their success to resilience, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.
“These awards are not only a proud moment for Nigerian football but also a reflection of our nation’s rich sporting talent. We are honoured to have such exceptional athletes representing Nigeria on the global stage,” Akpabio added.
He reiterated the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting sports development in Nigeria through enabling legislation and adequate funding to harness the country’s hidden talents.
“Once again, I congratulate Ademola Lookman, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and the Super Falcons on their remarkable achievements,” Akpabio stated.
