The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned the Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja Complex at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Lagos, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strengthening professional military education, efficient administration and personnel welfare through modern infrastructure.
The facility, commissioned on Friday, is named in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of the Nigeria military.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lt Gen Shaibu described the late Lagbaja as an exceptional military leader whose professionalism, integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to national service continue to inspire officers and soldiers across the Nigeria military.
He said the new complex would significantly enhance the College’s training, administrative and welfare capabilities by providing a conducive environment for developing highly skilled logistics professionals to support operational effectiveness.
According to the COAS, naming the facility after the late Army Chief reflects the Nigerian Army’s enduring appreciation of his immense contributions to force development, leadership and operational excellence.
Lt Gen Shaibu urged officers, instructors and students of NACOLM to emulate the values exemplified by the late Lagbaja by remaining disciplined, professional and committed to excellence in the discharge of their duties.
He reiterated that sustained investment in training institutions, modern infrastructure and personnel welfare remains central to his command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptive, combat-ready and resilient force capable of effectively carrying out its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.
The commissioning of the Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja Complex is expected to strengthen the capacity of NACOLM in producing competent logistics professionals while advancing the Nigerian Army’s drive towards improved operational readiness and institutional excellence.
