Consider Majalisa as vehicle for unity, Gov Sule enjoins Lafia citizens

Nasarawa State Governor,Abdullahi Sule, has called on the citizens of Lafia, the state capital, to see the over 200 Majilasa in the city, as a vehicle to foster unity among the people.

Sule made the call while hosting members of the Majalisan Baban Rabi, who were at the Government House, on a courtesy call, on Monday.

The Governor pointed out that with Lafia having prominent sons and daughters occupying political offices at both the Federal and State governments, there was no better time for the people to be united than now.

“Lafia has her sons and daughters occupying prominent political offices such as the Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu, as well as three Commissioners, all in the present political dispensation,” he stated.

The Governor accordingly said there was no better time for the people of Lafia to be united than now, considering that the city is blessed with capable leaders starting from the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage (rtd), to other prominent political leaders.

Governor Sule therefore urged people to see the over 200 Majalisa scattered across the city, as vehicle for fostering unity, for the development of the city.

While commenting on the just concluded Sallah celebration, the Governor further urged the people of Lafia to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and unity demonstrated by the occasion, in order to enhance further development of the area.

Earlier, in an opening remarks, Chairman, Majalisan Baban Rabi, Alhaji Abdullahi Baban Keke, said the visit by members of the Majalisa, was to reciprocate the gesture done to them by the Governor when he visited them the previous Sallah.

Alhaji Baban Keke added that the group members, numbering over 30, deemed it necessary to not only return the visit but to also declare unflinching support for the administration.

The chairman urged the Governor to consider members of the Majalisa in terms of dividends of democracy.

Members of the Majalisan Baban Rabi include civil servants, businessmen, politicians, as well as leaders of opinion.

The group has always supportive to every successive administrations in the state since 1999.
