Covid-19: NUJ FCT Inaugurates Committee

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, has inaugurated its sensitization and monitoring committee on the coronavirus pandemic.
The 7-man committee was announced by the chairman of council, Emmanuel Ogbeche, on Monday in Abuja.
A statement by the secretary of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Ochiaka Ugwu, named those in the committee to include; Patrick Osadebamwen, vice chairman of council and Team Lead; Benjamin Ubiri, Titi Oladimehin, Aisha Ali, Ruth Tene, Martins Odeh and Taiwo Olalere.
Some of the terms of reference of the committee included; i. to monitor the activities and safety of media organisations and practitioners in the FCT;
ii. To act as go between for practitioners and government and media organisations and between the NUJ and members on the Covid-19 related matters;
iii. To collate the statistics of media practitioners working in sensitive areas and those who may need any form of support, work related or material needs;
iv. To mobilise financial and material support as well as any incentive(s) or welfare package(s) for journalists who need them;
v. To provide information from all reliable sources to journalists. Starting from the PTF and ministerial task force as well as the other bodies providing authentic information;
vi. To dispel rumours and discourage fake news, and help to sensitize and create awareness and build hope among journalists.
