COVID-19: Suleja Council Chairman orders closure of private Almajiri, Islamiya schools

The Executive Chairman of Suleja Local Government Council Hon. Abdullahi S Maje today Monday directed the closure of all private Almajiri and Islamiya schools in Suleja Local Government Area following the prevailing cases of coronavirus in the country, and the consequent directives of the Niger State government.

The Council Chairman urged all Private, Almajiri and Islamiya schools operators to close their premises with effect from Tuesday 24th March, 2020 till further notice.

According to the Chairman, the closure became necessary due to the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world. He added that necessary legal actions will be taken against the defaulters of the directives.

Maje further reaffirmed his commitment to ensure that the 8am – 8pm curfew and other directives of the state government on the measures against the spread of the coronavirus are complied with in Suleja Local Government Area.

Hon Maje also advised the general public to be law abiding in this trying time in order to ensure that the spread of this virus is put to a stop.
