Fallen Heroes Honoured As Late Brigadier General Braimah, Others Laid To Rest In Maiduguri

The nation on Wednesday paid its final respects to Late Brigadier General Omo Braimah, Captain Ismail, and other gallant soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, as they were laid to rest with full military honours in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The solemn burial ceremony, held at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery, drew grieving families, military personnel, and top government officials, all united in mourning and tribute to the fallen heroes. The atmosphere was marked by deep emotion, reflection, and reverence for the sacrifices made in defence of the nation.

The deceased officers and soldiers were accorded full military rites in recognition of their courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to national security. Their deaths were described as a painful reminder of the immense sacrifices made daily by members of the Armed Forces to preserve Nigeria’s peace and unity.

Among dignitaries present were the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum; the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd); the Chief of Defence Staff; the Chief of Army Staff; and other senior military officers.

In separate tributes, the leaders described the fallen soldiers as true patriots who stood resolute in the face of danger and paid the ultimate price in service to their country. They noted that the bravery and sense of duty exhibited by the deceased would continue to inspire future generations and remain indelible in the nation’s history.

Prayers were offered for the repose of their souls, while detailed citations of their service records were read in honour of their sacrifices before their next of kin. The grief of their families highlighted the human toll of the country’s ongoing security challenges, even as their loved ones were celebrated for their heroism.
