The sportsmen and women of the FCT Police Command have delivered an impressive outing at the 1st National Masters Athletes Championship, held from 1st to 3rd May, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, showcasing strength, discipline, and competitive excellence across multiple events.
The Command’s representatives returned with commendable laurels, securing both gold and silver medals in different categories.
In the track event, ASP Ibrahim Aliyu clinched the gold medal in the 100m race, demonstrating remarkable speed and endurance. In field events, ASP Alolade Olanrewaju earned a silver medal in discus throw, while Insp. Elvis Elaigwu also secured a silver medal in triple jump, further boosting the Command’s overall performance at the championship.
Reacting to the achievement, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, commended the officers for their dedication, discipline, and resilience. He noted that their success reflected the Command’s commitment to holistic development, professionalism, and the promotion of physical fitness among personnel.
He added that the medals won have not only brought honour to the Command but also serve as a source of inspiration to other officers within the Force to embrace sports as a tool for wellness and excellence.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement issued in Abuja on 5th May, 2026, reaffirmed the Command’s pride in the athletes’ outstanding performance and reiterated its continued support for sporting activities within the Police Force.
