FCT Police Rescue Woman Allegedly Assaulted by Father in Abuja Estate

The Nigeria Police Force Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has rescued Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya Emmanuel following an alleged physical assault by her father, Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya, at Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred at about 12:00 a.m. on May 9, 2026, after the Command received a distress call reporting an ongoing assault at the residence.

Adeh disclosed that a patrol team from the Wuye Division, supported by operatives of the Department of Operations, was immediately deployed to the scene, while the Command’s spokesperson also monitored the operation.

She explained that upon arrival, officers discovered that the gate to the residence was locked, delaying access to the compound.

“After several attempts, access was eventually gained at about 2:30 a.m.,” the statement said.

Police said Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya was found with visible bruises and was rescued alongside her brothers before being rushed to NNPC Hospital, Abuja, for medical attention.

The Command confirmed that Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya has been taken into police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police assured residents that the matter would be thoroughly investigated in line with the law.
