Residents of Ogbomoso were on Saturday morning filled with joy as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, distributed food packages to widows and less-privileged members of the community.
The outreach programme, tagged “Food Relief Package for Widows and the Less Privileged,” was held at the Old Eid Prayer Ground, opposite LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The event attracted a large crowd of beneficiaries, who trooped out in numbers to receive the food items. The distribution was carried out without consideration for religious or ethnic differences, as organisers emphasized inclusiveness and community support.
Prof. Adeyanju explained that the initiative was his personal way of giving back to his hometown and expressing gratitude to society. He said the gesture also aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which encouraged both government and individuals to support vulnerable citizens.
According to him, government alone cannot meet all social needs, hence the importance of private contributions from individuals in positions of influence.
He further noted that the programme reflects his commitment to easing hardship among citizens, adding that it would not be a one-off intervention.
“This is to bring relief to the citizenry under the Renewed Hope is Working mantra. It is something that will continue, and we intend to take it to different places,” he said.
He also praised President Tinubu’s efforts toward economic stability, improved infrastructure, youth empowerment, and fiscal reforms, urging Nigerians to support the administration in building a better country.
The programme featured goodwill messages from community leaders and stakeholders, including Alhaja Nurat Olayiwola and Prof. Tijani Abduwahab, who commended the initiative and described Prof. Adeyanju as a philanthropist with strong ties to his community.
Beneficiaries, including Ndukare Chinyere and Salahudeen Sukurat, expressed appreciation for the gesture, praying for God’s continued blessings upon the donor.
The event ended with distribution of food packages to widows, vulnerable families, and other residents, bringing relief and smiles to many households in Ogbomoso.
