Ghana Parliament Speaker, Gbagbin passes A Vote of Confidence on NASC.

The Speaker, Ghana Parliament, Rt Honorable Alban Sunmanu Kensfort Bagbin has lauded Nigeria’s National Assembly Service Commission NASC under the leadership of Engr Ahmed Kadi Amshi.

 

The Parliament Speaker made this remarks during a three day visit of the delegates to Nigeria in a session with the leadership of NASC held at Utako, Abuja, Nigeria.

 

According to the Speaker, “We have alot of confidence in the dynamics and practice of Nigeria’s democracy for over six decades, hence the routine visit to continue to understudy the approach being deployed.

 

The Ghana 8th Assembly Speaker , Rt Hon Bagbin said the visit was a follow up to a the last visit in August, 2021, by the new Ghana parliamentary service board officials.

 

He said the leadership were in Nigeria to understudy the giant of Africa democracy, so as to improve on the new parliamentary service board and improved on the workers welfare

 

The Honorable Speaker of Ghana parliament described Nigeria’s democracy as exemplary, giving it’s sustenance and dynamics of it’s operations since independence in 1960, and returned to democracy in 1999.

 

“I was in Nigeria routinely for over three decades of my experience at the parliament both in the ruling party and opposition.”

 

“I got an invitation to deliver a lecture in 2015, after the main opposition APC defeated the ruling PDP then , with strong advocacy on how opposition party are expected to operate.”

 

He described opposition as the ingredients of a thriving democracies world over, while expressing satisfaction with the way it was been practised in Nigeria.

 

He urged the commission to assist Ghana in building a robust Parliamentary Service Board, so as to serve as a model to other African countries.

 

The three day visit will move to National Institute for Legislative studies NILDS and the National Assembly to meet with the speaker of the House of Representatives and management of the National Assembly.
