NAF Keeps Terrorists on the Run, Pounds Hideouts in Niger State

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its air operations against terrorist elements in Niger State, sustaining relentless pressure on criminal groups operating in parts of Mariga Local Government Area.

The latest missions focused on Maburya, Sangeko, Kampani Bobi and adjoining areas, where NAF aircraft conducted sustained armed reconnaissance and surveillance following credible intelligence on the movement and activities of terrorist elements.

During the operations, the aircraft located groups of terrorists moving on motorcycles and alongside rustled cattle. The terrorists were observed fleeing and seeking cover as the air operations disrupted their movements and activities in the area.

The missions were conducted in close coordination with ground forces under the Joint Task Force North West Area of Operations, highlighting the growing importance of intelligence-led airpower and effective air-ground coordination in counter-terrorism operations.

By maintaining persistent surveillance over the affected areas, NAF crews were able to detect suspicious movements, identified potential threats and provided timely air support to surface forces.

The sustained aerial presence is also aimed at denying terrorist elements the freedom to move, assemble and operate without challenge, while supporting ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable communities.

The operations came as security forces continue to intensify efforts to restore peace and stability across communities affected by terrorism and other forms of insecurity in the North-West.

For residents of Niger State, particularly those in communities around Mariga, the continued deployment of air assets provided additional support to ground forces working to contain terrorist activities and protect lives and property.

The Nigerian Air Force has remained resolute in deploying airpower in support of joint security operations, with its personnel continuing to conduct day-and-night missions as part of the broader national effort to defeat terrorism and restore lasting peace across the country.
