Gov Okpebholo dissolves all Commissions in Public Service

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of all commissions in the state’s public service with immediate effect.

 

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the affected commissions include:

1. Edo State Independent Electoral Commission

2. Civil Service Commission

3. Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission

4. Edo State Forestry Commission

5. House of Assembly Service Commission

6. State Audit Service Commission

7. Judicial Service Commission

 

The statement directed all Chairmen and members of the dissolved commissions to hand over all government properties in their possession to the most senior public officers in their respective commissions.

 

The decision, according to the government, is part of efforts to reposition the state’s public service for efficiency and better governance.

 

The announcement has generated reactions among stakeholders in the state, as residents await further directives from the government regarding the future of the affected commissions.
