In a strategic move to strengthen unity and tap into the wealth of experience of past leaders, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, Comrade Grace Ike, recently hosted a special interactive session with former chairmen of the council in Abuja.
The meeting, held at Sinoki Restaurant, was aimed at fostering togetherness, enhancing collaboration, and encouraging the exchange of ideas between past and current leadership of the union.
In attendance were prominent past chairmen including Comrades Amos Dunia, Abduljelil Adebayo, Shok Jok, Alhaji Ndamadu Sule, Jacob Edi, Malachy Uzendu, and Paul Ella Abechi. Each shared insights into the challenges they faced in office and offered practical guidance to support the current leadership.
While congratulating Comrade Grace Ike on her historic emergence as the first female chairperson of the NUJ FCT Council, the former leaders pledged their full support and urged members to unite behind her vision to reposition the council.
The initiative has been widely commended as a forward-thinking move that reflected the current administration’s openness to learning, unity, and shared growth.
Despite initial controversies surrounding her election, Comrade Grace Ike has remained focused, unveiling several developmental initiatives tailored toward journalists’ welfare, professional development, and ethical standards.

Present at the meeting alongside the Chairperson were Vice Chairman Yahaya Ndambabo, Secretary Jide Oyekunle, Assistant Secretary Sharon Emephia, Ex-Officio 1 Ebriku John Friday, and Chairperson of the Peoples Daily Chapel, Christiana Ekpa.
