Happy Home Marriage Consult on Saturday hosted its 2nd Annual Marriage Conference and Award Presentation at the National Mosque, Abuja, brought together Islamic scholars, marriage counsellors and mental health experts to address contemporary marital challenges from an Islamic perspective.
The conference, themed “The Untold Truth: How Marriage Can Write Your Name in Jannah,” was convened by the Founder and Host, Coach Adebayo Abdulateef, who emphasized the need for intentionality, mindfulness and faith in building successful marriages. In his address, Abdulateef cautioned men against harmful actions and utterances towards their wives, noted that words often inflict deeper and more lasting pain than physical acts. He also urged women to uphold respect for their husbands, stressing that mutual respect remains central to marital harmony.
According to him, the true reward of marriage goes beyond worldly comfort, pointing out that the ultimate recompense lies with Allah. He therefore called on the Ummah to consciously protect and strengthen the institution of marriage as a means of preserving family values and safeguarding future generations.
The Special Guest Speaker, Dr Sheikh AbdulFattah Adeyemi, Founder of Bayyikum Family Counselling Center, Abuja, delivered a keynote lecture on the trials and wisdom of marriage. He explained that many marital challenges described as “trials” are sometimes consequences of poor choices made before marriage, urging intending couples to prepare adequately rather than rush into marital unions.
Dr Adeyemi warned against turning marriage into a platform for social display, noting that marriage thrives more on barakah than outward show. He advised couples to sustain their homes through effective communication, patience and understanding, adding that open dialogue is essential for marital fulfillment.
Addressing polygamy, the Islamic scholar urged women to exercise endurance and faith when faced with such circumstances, described it as one of the trials permitted within Islamic teachings. He emphasized that polygamy remained part of the Qur’anic injunctions and should be approached with wisdom, knowledge and trust in Allah.
Other speakers at the event included Barr. Zulaihat Yusuf, a mediator and marriage counsellor, and Coach Diddi Maimuna Ummi Abdullahi, a mental health expert, who both provided practical insights on conflict resolution, emotional wellbeing and sustaining healthy marital relationships.
The event concluded with prayers and award presentations, reaffirmed Happy Home Marriage Consult’s commitment to promoting stable marriages and strong families anchored on Islamic principles.
