The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment, announced by the Force Headquarters, Abuja, is part of efforts to strengthen strategic communication, public engagement, and institutional accountability within the Force.
CSP Iniedu, a native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, is a seasoned police officer with experience spanning public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, administration, and accountability. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has received professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis.
Before his new appointment, CSP Iniedu served as the Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU), Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and contributed to initiatives aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
He also previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State, alongside other operational and administrative roles across various formations of the Force.
His previous appointments include Operations Officer, Maisandari Division, Yobe State Command; Area Crime Officer, Umuahia Area Command, Abia State; Staff Officer, IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters; Second-in-Command, 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Kubwa; and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.
Reacting to the appointment, IGP Disu expressed confidence in CSP Iniedu’s ability to lead the Force Public Relations Department, noting that his wealth of experience would enhance the Force’s communication strategies and support ongoing policing reforms.
