Imole Campaign Council Begins Post-Election Audit, Moves to Document All Violence Victims

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has commenced a comprehensive post-election review following the conclusion of the Osun State Governorship Election, directing its structures across the state to document all victims of election-related violence.

The Council said the exercise would capture the details of persons who sustained injuries, families who lost loved ones, individuals whose properties were damaged or destroyed, and other identifiable victims of violence before, during and immediately after the election.

In a statement issued by its Spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., the Council stressed that the exercise would be non-partisan, with all victims to be documented irrespective of their political affiliation, party membership or voting preference.

According to the Council, violence against any citizen diminished the entire society, stressed that no family should be forgotten because of its political persuasion.

“While we are grateful to God and to the people of Osun State for the outcome of the election, we recognise that our victory cannot erase the pain of families who suffered losses or injuries in the course of the electoral process,” the statement said.

The Campaign Council said the post-election review was part of its commitment to responsible leadership and accountability, adding that the human consequences of the electoral process must not be overlooked after the conclusion of the political contest.

It therefore directed all Local Government structures to submit comprehensive and verifiable records of affected persons for further review and appropriate action.

The Council maintained that the documentation would provide a clearer account of the impact of electoral violence on individuals and families across the state.

“The election is over. Our common humanity must now take precedence over political differences,” the Council said, reiterating its commitment to putting the interests of Osun State above partisan considerations.

“Osun comes first,” it added.
