The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has commended Nigerian workers for their resilience and contributions to national development as the country marks the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.
The message, which was conveyed through his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, described workers as the backbone of Nigeria’s progress, acknowledging their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to sustaining the nation’s economic growth despite prevailing challenges.
“Today, we recognize the men and women who make up the Nigerian workforce. We salute your dedication, hard work, and commitment to the advancement of our nation,” he said, adding that their efforts continue to shape a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
The Deputy Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the House of Representatives to promoting legislative measures aimed at improving workers’ welfare, safety, and economic security across the country.
He stressed that the parliament remains focused on enacting policies that will ensure dignity in labour and create opportunities for all workers to thrive.
Kalu also extended his best wishes to Nigerians on the occasion of Workers’ Day, urging continued unity and commitment toward national development.
