The Kogi State Council of Ulama of Nigeria has expressed strong confidence in the leadership of the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, describing his appointment as a reflection of merit, integrity, and proven administrative capacity.
The Council conveyed its position during a courtesy visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, where a delegation led by its Chairman, Sheikh Salman Adam Imam, formally congratulated Yusuf and offered prayers for a successful tenure.
In a statement presented during the visit, the clerics noted that Yusuf’s appointment was anchored on a “distinguished career, tested administrative competence, and sustained contributions to ethical development,” adding that his background places him in a strong position to lead the Commission at a critical phase of its operations.
They further underscored the symbolic importance of his emergence, describing him as the first indigene of Kogi State—and the North-Central geopolitical zone—to head the Commission since its establishment nearly three decades ago.
The Council described the development as a source of pride for the Muslim Ummah, particularly in Kogi State and the North-Central region, while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it termed a deliberate and well-considered appointment.
It also called on stakeholders within the Muslim community and NAHCON staff to support the new leadership in addressing operational challenges and driving sectoral reforms aimed at strengthening efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.
A formal letter of goodwill and congratulations was presented to the Chairman during the visit.
In his response, Ambassador Yusuf expressed appreciation for the show of support, describing the visit as both humbling and encouraging. He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him, assuring that his administration would prioritize reforms and measurable improvements in the Commission’s operations.
The engagement concluded with prayers for the success of his tenure and the overall advancement of the Commission.
