NAWOJ FCT Backs NUJ FCT Congress Hall Project with Financial Donation

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Council, has donated funds to support the ongoing construction of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council’s ultra-modern Congress Hall.

The donation, made under the leadership of the NAWOJ FCT Chairperson, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, underscores the association’s commitment to strengthening the infrastructure of its parent body and supporting initiatives that promote the welfare of journalists.

Receiving the donation, the Chairperson of the NUJ FCT Council, Grace Ike, commended NAWOJ FCT for identifying with the landmark project, describing the gesture as timely and commendable.

She said the support demonstrated solidarity within the journalism profession and urged other stakeholders in the NUJ FCT Council community to emulate the association by contributing to the successful completion of the Congress Hall.

Presenting the donation, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang said the Congress Hall project represents a lasting legacy that will benefit journalists for generations.

“NAWOJ FCT is proud to identify with and support the ongoing NUJ FCT Council building project because we believe it is a legacy that will serve journalists today and in the future and for many years to come. A befitting Council secretariat is not just a structure; it is a symbol of unity, growth and the collective aspirations of members of our great union,” she said.

Ikpang also praised the leadership of Grace Ike, describing the project as a historic achievement under the first female Chairperson of the NUJ FCT Council.

According to her, Ike has demonstrated courage, vision and determination in driving a project many considered difficult to accomplish.

She added that the achievement has become a source of pride for women journalists, noting that it reinforced the capacity of women to deliver transformational leadership when given the opportunity.

The ongoing ultra-modern Congress Hall is one of the flagship projects of the NUJ FCT Council and is expected to provide a befitting venue for congresses, professional engagements and other activities of journalists in the Federal Capital Territory.
