The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled several drug joints and bunks across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, arrested 132 suspects and recovered 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances in a sweeping two-week operation.
The agency said the raids, carried out between April 11 and April 25, 2026, targeted major drug hotspots following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance. The coordinated operation was executed by operatives of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) in collaboration with the FCT Strategic Command.
Locations raided include Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis, among others.
According to the NDLEA, substances recovered during the raids include 214.79 kilograms of skunk, a strain of cannabis, as well as quantities of Diazepam, Exol, Tramadol, Mogadon, Cocaine, Rohypnol, Methamphetamine, Ecstasy, and bottles of Codeine syrup.
The agency disclosed that its operatives faced stiff resistance from suspected drug syndicates in parts of Durumi and Suleja Market during the exercise. However, officers were able to subdue the groups without recording any casualties, successfully disrupting their distribution networks.
Briefing the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, the Director of Operations and General Investigation, Ahmed Sule Ningi, commended the professionalism and resilience of officers involved in the operation. He stressed the importance of sustaining the momentum to consolidate the gains recorded.
In his remarks, Marwa praised the operatives for their commitment and directed that the operational model be replicated in other high-risk urban centres across the country. He reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to intensify efforts aimed at curbing both the supply and demand of illicit drugs nationwide.
