The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has lauded Nigerian workers for their resilience and dedication, describing them as the backbone of national development and critical drivers of the country’s progress.
In a statement marking the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, Issa-Onilu said the occasion offers an important moment to reflect on the dignity of labour and the vital role workers play in nation-building. He noted that the daily sacrifices of Nigerian workers continue to sustain the nation’s economy despite prevailing challenges.
The NOA boss commended workers across both public and private sectors for their unwavering commitment, stressing that their contributions remain central to national growth and stability.
He observed that Nigeria is at a critical stage in its development journey, where achieving sustainable prosperity requires increased productivity, discipline, and a renewed commitment to excellence from all citizens.
Issa-Onilu urged workers to rededicate themselves to the values of hard work, integrity, and professionalism, noting that these principles are essential not only for personal success but also for collective national advancement.
He reaffirmed the agency’s position that meaningful national transformation begins with a positive change in mindset, calling on citizens to embrace a culture that rewards diligence, innovation, and accountability.
The NOA Director General also advised Nigerians to shun indolence, corruption, and inefficiency, which he said continue to hinder development and slow progress across key sectors.
Expressing optimism about the country’s future, Issa-Onilu highlighted ongoing efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda to improve workers’ welfare, strengthen institutions, and create a more enabling environment for productivity.
