Director of the Jaal Foundation, Dr. Tolu Aderemi, has lauded the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) to for its remarkable growth, describing it as a strong institution that has become a model of effective governance within five years of its establishment.
Dr. Aderemi made this remark during a courtesy visit to NiDCOM’s Lagos office, where he came to show support for Adeola, daughter of Nollywood actress Jumoke George, who was recently rescued from Mali through the Commission’s intervention.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Aderemi noted that the Jaal Foundation’s core mission is to advocate for good governance and institutional development, adding that NiDCOM exemplifies these values under the leadership of Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
“What happened in the case of Adeola is a reflection of what good governance can achieve,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the NiDCOM team, the Nigerian Embassy in Mali, Abiola Adebayo who brought Adeola’s case to NiDCOM’s attention and Ms. Oyibo Yakub, who initially traced her whereabouts in Mali.
According to Dr. Aderemi, NiDCOM has grown into a strong institution that is expected to outlive its founding leadership, continuing to provide hope and support for Nigerians both at home and abroad.
He also advised Nigerians planning to migrate irregularly to reconsider, stressed the importance of building a prosperous nation from within.
To support Adeola’s reintegration and entrepreneurial dreams, Dr. Aderemi donated a freezer and a cash gift to help her start a beverage business, following her earlier expression of interest in becoming self-reliant.
He further commended Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa for her tireless commitment to rescuing and supporting stranded Nigerians across the globe.
