The former Governor of old Kano State and former Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Zimbabwe Col. Sani Bello (rtd) have been described as an epitome of humility, human social development whose philosophy and endeavour traverse varied social and cultural strata.
The Secretary to the Niger State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane disclosed this when he visited the residence of Col. Sani Bello in Kontagora to congratulate him as he celebrate his 80th birthday anniversary on behalf of members of the Niger State Executive Council.
The SSG who was accompanied by the Chairman of the State Commissioner’s Forum and the Commissioner for Water Resources and Dams Development, Hon. Mamman Musa averred that the octogenarian represent a rare source of social emancipation for the people of the State with his social development programmes having touches multitudes, stressing that he can’t be forgotten by the citizenry in a hurry.
The SSG further stated that Col. Sani Bello is a leader who has demonstrated exceptional capacity to consider the interest of the people above himself.
According to the SSG, “indeed your life have been a practical demonstration of patriotism, professionalism and commitment to both public and private sectors”
“On behalf of the Chairman and members of the State Executive Council, I congratulate Col. Sani Bello (rtd) on the occasion of his 80th birthday anniversary, the SSG added.
Ahmed Matane declared that the State is always ready to benefit from Col. Sani Bello’s knowledge, wealth of experience and service.
In his remarks, Col. Sani Bello expressed appreciation with the magnanimity and show of love by members of the State Executive Council.
The former Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Zimbabwe assured Government that he will not relent in providing humanitarian services to the people of the State.
He then called on Government at all levels to find lasting solution to the menace of Almajiri in the society.
Col. Sani Bello (rtd) served as the Military Governor of old Kano State between 1975 – 1979 and was also the Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Zimbabwe between 1984 and 1986.
The Secretary to the State Government and his entourage later inspected the 8.4 Km Kontagora by-pass to ascertain the progress of work.
