Niger Govt to partner Senegal based company,Willing Hands to boost Agriculture

The Niger state Government is set to partner a Senegal based company; Willing Hands in the area of Agriculture.

 

This was sequel to the visit of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and some members of his cabinet and other private investors to Richard Toll, Saint Louis, Senegal on the invitation of the organisation.

 

The visit was majorly for feasibility study so as to create a workable document for the establishment of a commercial farm project in Niger State.

 

The Governor and his entourage were taken round three farms; that of alfalfa, onion and radish as well as potatoes at different locations for on the spot assessment of the farms; to observe methods and types of technology used; as well as see how the crops can be produced in Niger State.

 

Governor Sani Bello who was impressed by the activities of the company, said Niger state is well positioned to have a robust and successful partnership with the company considering the landmass of the state, water bodies and the availability of rainfall for upto six months in a year.

 

He said Nigeria is a big market hence such investment will not be a waste.

 

To strengthen the bilateral relationship, officials of the company are expected to visit Niger State soon for feasibility study also on the land for the project and to plan on how to produce other crops like maize, soybeans and vegetables.
