Niger Police arrest 3 IBBU students for unlawful possession of firearm,Cultism

Niger state Police Command operatives attached to Tafa Division on 16th July,2023 at about 2315hrs, based on credible intelligence, Police operatives attached to Lapai Division arrested Three suspects for unlawful possession of firearm and Cultism.The students claimed to be students of Ibrahim Babangida University Lapai,IBBU,Niger state.

The arrested suspects are ;
-Tanko Augustine Solomon 27yrs of Maikunkele
-Idris Hamza 25yrs of Maikunkele
-Idris Hayatullahi 25yrs of Lokoja, Kogi State
They were arrested in their various residences, off campus in Lapai for being suspected to be cult members.
During interrogation, the suspects claimed to be IBBU students, as Tanko confessed that they belong to the Neo-black movement (NBM) and his mission was to initiate more students from the school to fight for black racism movement.
Further investigation revealed that he has been leading fight to other campuses and that he severed his stepmother’s left hand recently over a mere argument at Maikunkele area of Minna.
Exhibits recovered from Tanko Solomon include;
-One locally-made pistol with five cartridges
-Two axes
-One red regalia with inscription of NBM
-Two packets of white candles and eight pieces of red candles
-One packet of razor blade
-Two mosquito spray
-Two lighters
-Four colanuts
Suspects have been charged to court for prosecution, and effort is equally ongoing to arrest other members of the cult group.
